Paul Kwitek, a Toronto based music producer, composer, and DJ, creates ambient, chillout, and electronic soundscapes that transport listeners to ethereal realms. Born in Lublin, Poland, and immigrating to Canada at age 8, Paul’s global perspective infuses his music with cultural depth. With an audio engineering degree from Trebas Institute and classical training at Canadas Frederick Chopin Music School, he blends technical precision with soulful creativity. In 2003, Paul founded Existence Records and adopted his Paul Kwitek stage name, shaping a platform for innovative music and promoting emerging talent. Around 2019, he launched a recording studio in Lublin, Poland, where he channels his creative vision.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, as DJ Syro, Paul spun records across Canada, from North Bay to Sheridan College campuses. He hosted radio shows on Proton Radio and Frisky Radio, and performed at Toronto’s top clubs, Limelight and System Sound Bar, as well as festivals like WEMF, Goa Dupa, and Samsara. His international gigs in Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Montreal, and Toronto, alongside artists like Moby, Skrillex, and Infected Mushroom, cemented his reputation. Paul’s live ambient sets for Toronto’s Ambient Ping and collaborations with legendary ambient group Dream State deepened his roots in the scene.
His debut album, Qualia (2009), introduced his signature cinematic sound, setting the stage for a prolific career. Recent 2024 releases, Anthology, Newera, Galactic Minds, and Flow State, mark a triumphant solo chapter, blending cinematic melodies, Armenian duduk, and nature inspired textures into tracks that resonate globally. Paul’s live performances, from international festivals to intimate venues, deliver immersive, improvisational experiences. His Nature’s Laboratory series (2014 to 2016) and Lublin Sessions (2016, 2018), recorded live with artists like Wera Kidzecki and Kuba Karwacki in his Lublin studio, capture the raw energy of collaborative creation, earning acclaim from audiences and promoters alike. Paul’s passion for featuring upcoming talent, such as Grzegorz Nowacki, Wera Kidzecki, and Luke Siatkowski, through Existence Records, has been a cornerstone of his work, amplifying new voices in the industry. Collaborations with Grammy nominated Deep Forest and World Music Award winner Wes Madiko on the soulful 2023 single Sad Moon, award winning Sainkho Namtchylak, vocal visionary Gennady Tkachenko-Papizh on the evocative 2021 single Tukumulu, and Native American band Wuauquikuna further highlight his versatility. Remixes, including Deep Forest’s Sweet Lullaby and Habersham’s Into The M, showcase his production prowess.
